JUSTIN HAWE
PGA of Canada Class “A” Head Professional

Justin’s journey in golf began at the age of eleven, following years of competing in AAA baseball and AA hockey. His passion for the sport quickly took root as he honed his skills at Country Lane Golf Course before transitioning to Lakeridge Links, where he secured his first Junior Club Championship. His success in various Junior Tours earned him an invitation to a College Prospect tournament, drawing interest from scouts in the southern United States. However, Justin chose to stay local, enrolling in the Business Administration – Professional Golf Management program at Durham College. His dedication to academics matched his commitment to golf, as he graduated with honours and received President’s Roll distinctions.

In 2004, Justin joined the Royal Ashburn Golf Club as an apprentice, immersing himself in the professional side of the game. A year later, with his father proudly serving as his caddy, he made the leap to professional golf. His relentless pursuit of excellence and deep understanding of the game is what led Justin to earn his PGA of Canada Class “A” designation in 2008, marking a significant milestone in his career.

With years of experience both playing and coaching, Justin has developed a keen ability to nurture aspiring golfers, helping them refine their skills and deepen their appreciation for the game. His expertise extends beyond instruction, as he has also played a key role in club operations, event coordination, and mentorship programs. His passion for the sport is evident in his hands-on approach, ensuring that every golfer he works with reaches their full potential.

Justin is proud to be a part of the Royal Ashburn Golf Club team and remains dedicated to growing the game by sharing his knowledge, experience, and love for golf with players of all levels.

MATHEW ICETON
PGA of Canada Professional

Mathew was born and raised in the Durham Region, where his deep-rooted connections to the golf community extend both on and off the course.

A well-rounded athlete, Mathew excelled in multiple team sports before discovering his passion for golf. He began competing at the age of 12 and has since pursued the sport professionally. His junior golf career was marked by over 35 victories, leading him to West Liberty University in West Virginia on a golf scholarship. Over his four-year collegiate career, he secured 10 NCAA victories and earned numerous accolades, including four First Team All-Region selections.

After university, Mathew turned professional, earning status on PGA Tour Canada from 2018 to 2021. In the fall of 2022, he competed in the Korn Ferry Q-School, narrowly missing the opportunity to secure status for the 2023 season.

Beyond his playing career, Mathew is passionate about developing the next generation of golfers. With over a decade of teaching experience, he has helped aspiring players refine their skills and deepen their understanding of golf strategy. As a master club fitter, he applies his expertise to tailor equipment that enhances performance for golfers of all levels. His unique experience as both a player and coach allows him to create a supportive and effective learning environment for his students.

Mathew’s coaching philosophy is centered on the idea that golf is a highly individualized sport. Rather than changing a player’s natural swing, he focuses on fundamental techniques to refine and enhance performance. His coaching covers all aspects of the game, including driving, iron play, short game, putting, and the mental approach to golf. Regardless of skill level, he is committed to implementing strategies that help players elevate their game.

When he’s not at the course, Mathew enjoys spending quality time with his beloved daughter.

Mathew is excited to join the team of professionals at Royal Ashburn Golf Club and looks forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for the game.
